Fenlon & Fenlon Berlin-based soprano and pianist Rachel Fenlon brings her acclaimed one-woman liederabend to Vancouver Opera Festival. Inspired by the creative world of the Greek poet Sapho, Rachel will perform a programme of songs around the image of the self-accompanied poet. Rachel uniquely accompanies herself on the piano, and will perform the music of Dowland (transcribed for plucked piano), George Crumb, Ravel, Alma Mahler, W.A. Mozart, Joni Mitchell, John Cage, Franz Schubert, as well as her own improvisations based on the poetry of Sappho.
